Alternatives to the latest changes in the Strava API

Strava just introduced big changes to their API program. These changes will basically kill off a lot of apps.

In more detail, yesterday Strava sent an email to all users, outlining their immediate changes.

Some specifics:

  • Apps cannot connect to the Strava API, and use any AI services
  • Apps cannot show data to their users, only to yourself
  • Apps cannot process or analyse data

This comes as a big surprise, since there are thousands of apps using Strava for that reason.

Having said that, a good way to transition is by using our API at Terra instead.

You can easily connect to all wearables and health apps, and avoid Strava alltogether
